The shutters open onto the cork grove. The valley holds onto its mist longer than you’d expect.

Tiago’s coffee. First pot gone by 8:50, but there’s always a second. Breakfast is from the garden: eggs, tomatoes, whatever came ripe this week.

Monsaraz is twenty minutes by car. The bakery on the main square (Padaria Central) is worth the drive on its own.

Friday and Saturday evenings, Tiago cooks for the table. Tonight: lamb from the farm up the road, tomatoes from this morning, bread that was made here.

One table that seats everyone. By the end of dinner, someone has asked Tiago for the recipe and he’s already getting his notebook.

Dinner is included. And it’s the kind you'll talk about on the drive home.

On Friday and Saturday evenings, Tiago cooks for everyone. One sitting, one menu, built around what’s in season and what came from the garden or the farms nearby. It’s included in your room rate on those nights, so there’s nothing to book separately.

Mariana and Tiago take a selfie in the greenhouse, he holds a tray of seedlings while she kisses him on the cheek.

Mariana & Tiago

Mariana grew up visiting the quinta every summer, and Tiago grew up cooking for anyone who would sit still long enough. In 2021 they left Lisbon, spent a year restoring the stone farmhouse by hand, and never quite got around to leaving, opening for guests in 2023. Two rooms felt right: enough to cook properly for, small enough to actually take care of.
